Est. 1978
A mover by trade.
A bassist by heart.
“The Musician Who Moves You”
“My clients are my friends and neighbors.” That's how Jimmy describes 46 years of moving Western Massachusetts — and it shows in the equipment, the care, and the fact that he still answers his own phone.
Jimmy Burgoff, Owner
Jimmy started the business in 1978 and has run it continuously ever since, building a reputation in the Pioneer Valley one careful move at a time. He's not interested in being the biggest moving company around — he's interested in being the one people trust with the things that matter most: pianos, antiques, a parent's furniture, a business's equipment.
Equipment Built for the Job
Jimmy's trucks are outfitted with three different ramp sizes for getting the angle right on every doorway and loading dock, plus snow tires on the rear wheels for safe footing through a Western Mass winter. His dollies use pneumatic tires — not the hard plastic wheels most movers use — specifically to avoid scarring hardwood floors and tearing up lawns. Everything gets wrapped in real padding quilts, not shrink wrap and hope.
The Musician Who Moves You
Off the truck, Jimmy's an upright bass player and bandleader. He picked up the instrument at 14, growing up on Manhattan's Upper West Side, inspired by Sam Jones's bass lines on a Miles Davis record. That same ear for timing and touch is part of why he became the piano mover other technicians recommend — see Piano & Organ Moving for more on that side of the business.
Recognition
Angie's List Super Service Award (2015 & 2016), Amherst Chamber of Commerce “Best In Business,” and consistently top-rated reviews on Yelp and Google — earned the same way every job gets done: showing up, doing it right, and cleaning up after.
